Lewis Conwell

 

As a business and commercial litigator, Lew serves business and professional clients on a broad range of legal issues. He has particular knowledge and experience however in these specific areas:  building and project design and construction contracting and disputes, real estate related disputes, Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) architectural barrier compliance and claimed violations, bid protests and other government contract disputes, franchise disputes, intellectual property issues integral to these industries, and claims involving professional negligence, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.

Lew is an experienced trial lawyer. He has tried jury and bench trials in numerous state and federal courts, has represented clients in many arbitrations and administrative proceedings, and briefed and argued numerous appeals. Lew is also experienced in using mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution to creatively and economically resolve claims.

Lew received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1989 and his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oral Roberts University in 1983. He is admitted to practice before all state courts in Florida, the United States District Courts for the Middle, Southern and Northern Districts of Florida, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Lew loves the outdoors. When he’s not working he heads for the mountains to hike, climb, camp, and ski. He also enjoys spending time with his family. He’s married to Melanie, his wife of more than 30 years and has three adult children, two daughters-in-law and two amazing granddaughters.

 

Lew’s professional associations include the Hillsborough County Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the ABA Forum Committee on the Construction Industry.
